OUR MISSION

The mission of the Simi Valley Education Foundation is to bring together community and civic entities in providing additional resources to students in Simi Valley's public schools through student scholarships, classroom and department/grade level grants, and providing resources for our youth. Through community support, program development, and collaboration, the Foundation seeks to strengthen our public schools and the education they provide to our children. 

OUR HISTORY

The Simi Valley Education Foundation was formed in 1989 by Lew Roth, a Simi Valley School Board Trustee for 23 years. Lew was constantly looking for ways to improve our schools. In 1990, a plan, strongly endorsed by the community, made the official non-profit foundation operational.

Over the years, the Foundation has dedicated countless volunteer hours, and collected thousands of dollars in cash and equipment donations that have benefited public education in Simi Valley.

Teachers, departments and entire schools in the Simi Valley Unified School District have the opportunity every year to apply for Enhancement Grants. This program, with its emphasis on INNOVATIVE PROJECTS and CREATIVE TEACHING APPROACHES, provides funding, not otherwise available, for projects that have a potential to enhance the learning process. These grants are made possible through donations made by community members, alumni, staff, businesses, and special fundraising events.

Our Annual Celebration of Education Gala raises much-needed funds to continue to support the programs that SVEF provides to the schools, teachers and students in Simi Valley public schools.

The Lew Roth Dinner honors teachers, administrators and others in our community for their service to education.

Finally, the Simi Valley Education Foundation provides Scholarships and Endowments to deserving students high school seniors.

The Foundation is thriving and tackling more and more initiatives every year. From computers for classrooms to online giving that will match donor with classroom needs, the Simi Valley Education Foundation is taking the lead in making a difference in the lives of Simi Valley Public School students.
